Today I will describe how a design product is industrially made starting from a very thin sheet of metal ... very thin to the point of having a thickness equal to one millimeter!
First of all you need a good design idea!
Our company produces both for its own brands and for its internationally renowned clients. We take care of all the working phases: from the first design phase (also in co-design), to the engineering and subsequent pre-series, up to the industrial realization of the product, then to its wiring (in the case of lighting) and assembly. ... To its packaging, to the development of the packaging, then concluding with its prompt delivery.
The path that leads from the starting point A to the final point Z you will therefore imagine that it is extremely complex and articulated, as well as tailor-made because it is adapted to each project: in this way every product, whether technical or design, is treated in every detail and valued for its uniqueness.
... Returning to our very thin sheet of metal... this, according to the design drawing, is then carved with a fiber laser controlled by CAD-CAM.
Now try to imagine what I describe ... I hope to be able to lead you inside our company ... Imagine entering the vast department with very high metalworking ceilings, walking and hearing the sound of your footsteps echoing, arriving in front of a mammoth machine several meters high and long, so heavy of having to express ourselves in tons but capable of creating something unique in a few minutes and being, despite its reach and its size, delicate and very precise, quick and concise. Imagine its robotic arm that draws, draws, draws tirelessly and almost poetic in its movements, sometimes quick and sudden ...
The skilfully applied laser cutting can in fact create superficial ornaments or actual clear incisions with geometric and rational lines or curved, mellifluous and sophisticated, in any case original and very faithful to the design. We can therefore give life in a surprising way to naturalistic drawings, to clear profiles, to games of light and shadow or full and empty, captivating and unique.
An example of naturalistic and supple decoration is Heaven Tree by CAOSCREO our brand. The tree is carved in a Calamine slab; it is full of imaginative details that can be flexed to be used as hooks on which you can hang a trendy scarf, a sophisticated jewel, a hat from the past, or fix our photos with a magnet - which are often more precious memories of gold - or sticking quick notes taken on the fly to "remember not to forget". And in the meantime, we decorate, create "our" wall, make our home or our studio special. The laser beam that engraves Heaven Tree moves with precision and grace, in a bewitching dance, curve after curve, detail after detail, enchanting us with its movement.
From an idea that is inspired by shapes that, on the contrary, are decidedly essential, made of clean and straight lines, comes instead 2.D Night, a table lamp designed by Fabio Marchi for our second brand CAOSCREO. We wanted this light source to be pure two-dimensionality and mathematical-geometric perfection at the same time: 2.D is the sum of a horizontal base, plus a vertical stem, plus a trapezoidal lampshade. The result is a perfect mood light, that is, the backlight. In this case, the laser beam runs fast on the metal plate, suddenly changing direction at each corner, reversing its course and creating Light.
