Scenography of a return: Brass

Three different processes.

PLANIUM proposes Brass in three different processes. Through brushing, it maintains the classic character that distinguishes it in its minimal nature. The satin finish allows the metal a yield of greater opacity and allows it to be defined in an intermediate processing stage between brushing and the canvas, also obtained through a satin finish which is however more marked. Like the eco-sustainable Copper, being derived from it, Brass is also a good conductor.

With Bronze, Brass is one of the two famous alloys obtained from Copper. Brass is an alloy of Copper and Zinc whereas Bronze is made up of Copper and Tin. Its color is not always uniform, on the contrary: although it generally has all the characteristics of golden red, it actually has fascinating notes of green.

The gold color is in fact obtained by mixing ocher, green and red, while the predominance of green over red stands out due to the fact that the golden hue takes on a “cold” tone.

It is yellow that prevails in the chromatism of this metal superficially similar to gold, but different gradations can be obtained, for example a darker color with the addition of 1% of manganese (in dollar coins it is present at 1,3%).

Scenography of a Return

Due to its chromatism, Brass offers the perception of a basically "warm" furnishing decoration. Recently, the design wanted to reward a "flashback" of this popular element for a good part of the 1900s, especially in the 1930s. Even some cinema classics masterfully recall the setting of the time, such as The Sting (1973). In addition to the appliques - and even today this metal is exalted in the field of lighting - the "ministerial" lamp, also known as the "Churchill lamp" (but its real name is Emeralite), patented in 1909 by H.D. McFaddin.

Brass is wear-resistant and this favors it in its various uses, so much on a horizontal scale that it is difficult to say in which field this metal is most used. For this reason PLANIUM presents it for finishes of coverings and floors, to give a less "distant" connotation to the rooms. Think for example of the strong bond that its golden tones have assumed on the wall together with the Blue; a winning combination that recalls the Liberty trend and Art Nouveau in vogue in the old Europe of the Belle Epoque. Now, with the 1920s of another century, the style that focuses on shapes and colors brings back its elegance.  What are the methods to be able to lay this metal texture on the floor? PLANIUM has designed dry laying systems for installations: with magnetic coupling, MG01 Magnetic Floor; AP01 Lay Floor with lay-on installation; PL01 Invisible Floor with One-click installation; SM02 Evolution Floor, mechanical with visible angle screws.
