PLANIUM is a brand of TERENZI SRL which in the last years has been the protagonist of installations in transversal contexts, because interior design, both for flooring and coverings, has often required the use of metal with an aesthetic and decorative function. As trends and needs have changed, the different finishes have adapted to customer requests, guaranteeing both the installation systems and the most visible part an alternation of different styles.

One of the fields covered several times by PLANIUM was that relating to engines, which has always been a leading sector in Italian history, with various projects.

Trophy Room: “Stainless Concrete” for the Agostini Museum

The most recent concerns Giacomo Agostini's personal trophy Museum in the Bergamo area: this space that the greatest motorcyclist of the 20th century reserved for himself with his entire history of successes was covered with PLANIUM "Stainless Concrete". It is a particular type of steel obtained by electrolysis which chromatically, with its nuances, also echoes the stylistic atmosphere of the workshops of the 60s and 70s, with a strong alternation of tones linked to silver-grey. A room with his trophies, but even some of the most important motorbikes and suits, gloves, helmets. On the floor, a dry installation of the rapid MG01 Magnetic system was planned, with slabs measuring 990x990 mm and 1.5 mm thick.

TERENZI SRL contributed to the industrialization of the base of the glass desk, reproducing the writing AGO, short for Agostini since 196. The walls of the exhibition hall are also characterized by the equipped boiseries that cover the entire perimeter of the museum; the 1.5 mm galvanized steel boiseries were shaped according to the client's needs, cut and folded in such a way as to create a "sandwich" with the core and brackets and then liquid painted. Regarding the false ceiling, the use of perforated sheet metal was experimented for aesthetic purposes. On large dimensions such as those treated, lengths of up to 2,233 mm and a thickness of 0.8 mm, the greatest critical issues were found mainly in the bending phase.

Embossed Steel Conquers Miami and Stuttgart

Further back in the years and still regarding engines we mention two PLANIUM projects linked to the city of Miami, Florida, the pivot of Western pop culture that influenced the visual imagination of the entire 1980s.

With “The Collection Show Room” the floor of a luxury car display area for collectors is covered, while Ducati Motorcycle Dealer is reserved, as the name of the famous brand indicates, for two wheels. For both projects, Planium installs embossed steel on the floor: this texture recalls the most ancient process with which men have treated metal, for a stained surface that also stands out materially from the others.

Embossed steel was once again the protagonist of the flooring of a Porsche Museum in 2000, but here we are in Germany, in Stuttgart, which is precisely the city of origin of this famous and sporty automotive brand. Also in this case, the surface guaranteed by the steel has embroidered a scenography that chromatically recalls the workshop setting, with the silver-grey matching other details of the interior, including some of the cars themselves, walls and ceiling. What dominates is therefore a clear, cold and elegant chromatism, which marries the basic topic of the stand by fusing aesthetics with content.
