a Creative Contamination

The creative “contamination” between technique and design has always been present in all our realizations: we can be precise to the tenth of a millimeter, thanks to the avant-garde technologies adopted but also innovative and imaginative in their application.

Metal-morphosis is the new PLANIUM collection that experiments with surprisingly colored textures created with controlled and differentiated oxidation techniques according to the type of metal used. All the possible color ranges are obtained from copper, brass, steel: from ocher to green, from coppery to red tones, from blue to light blue, from silvery to anthracite notes, from brown to black.

We wanted to offer other color ranges - in addition to those already typical of metals - without superimposing color treatments of any kind on the surfaces but ensuring that oxidations are created over time thanks to natural stresses, with the use of eco-sustainable techniques and the experience that it makes us predict the reaction of matter. Experience gained over the years through continuous experimentation and mastery of technologies and methods that allow us to transform any metal into the desired shape and color.

Now “paintings”, now tapestries or covering panels, even sculptures, these works are placed in a transversal space, between art and design, between artistic and technological gesture.

Avant-garde industrial innovation realizes artistic inspiration; the new scenario of unprecedented Italian style is in the making. The recyclability of the materials, together with the eco-sustainability of dry installations, make it possible to maintain a high level of attention to the environment.

The textures are made mechanically or electrolytically, giving the possibility to propose infinite patterns, that can be applied as wall coverings or on architectural elements such as columns or staircases, or even on pieces of furniture.

Metal-morphosis, as the name implies, is therefore the transformation of metals into surfaces that are innovative, made with laser cuts and advanced techniques, but also unique and artistic with the manual contribution of designers who create volumes, colors, shapes.

Without renouncing the characteristics of resistance and consistency typical of metals, we wanted to highlight the aesthetic potential of oxidations which, if “controlled”, can generate infinite colors. From limit, corrosion, oxidation, oriented and arrested, becomes aesthetic appeal, innovative texture, artistic expression, added value and stylistic imprint by PLANIUM.

WAVE11, designed by Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman, is the first piece of the series dedicated to 3D metal panels. Made with 200 sheets of brass, laser-carved, modeled, assembled and oxidized by hand, measuring 1.7 x 2.7 m in size, it contains the technical mastery of the 56 years of experience that distinguish our company. The waves live over time with the oxidation that has eroded them, like sea salt on a coral, like an ancient lace.

The protagonists of the MAVI series by Isil Cagatay are the Calypso tapestries (48 x 197 cm) and the large framed artistic slabs (1 x 2 m). The thin "sheets" of copper and brass reveal on their surfaces an unexpected riot of colors, those of the Mediterranean Sea.
