Copper Indoors and Outdoors
In the classic conception of a formal furniture, due to its warm nature, Copper blends without clashing with white-toned marble, as well as with gray. The combination with dark colors or shades of gray gives a leaden or industrial tone, of great taste when it is necessary to furnish in large, voluminous spaces. In this case, for PLANIUM this implies combining the metal textures of Copper with those of the various steels, for floors and walls. PLANIUM Steels include different types and therefore different material stages and colors: Stainless, Oxidized, Stainless "Concrete", Calamine.
Furnishing accessories made of this material were used for a large part of the second decade of the 1900s, like Bronze and Brass. Simenon himself refers everywhere, in his Maigret, to Copper objects in the homes of the Belgians and French of the 30s, 40s, 50s.
Still sometimes called "red gold" due to its primary metal character and intrinsic qualities, Copper is an emblem of human history, who also used it for artistic purposes (Fontana, the best known case of the 20th century); but in Humanism its meaning is lost in alchemical esotericism, so much so that Gershom Scholem writes, quoting a passage: «Copper is red and carries the natures of both [the elements mentioned above, namely gold and silver] because those who know the "Opera" make it silver and gold.» Its use was then directed for almost a century towards construction.
PLANIUM today wants to revitalize this metal, which has once again gained ground in terms of interior design and architecture, to characterize interiors and exteriors, bringing history into innovation. In this regard, the brand has designed dry laying systems for installations: with magnetic coupling, MG01 Magnetic Floor; AP01 Lay Floor with lay-on installation; PL01 Invisible Floor with One-click installation; SM02 Evolution Floor, mechanical with visible angle screws.
Verdigris between Venus and Architectural Exteriors
In alchemy, the emblem of Copper is the same as that of Venus, and also corresponds to that of femininity. Venus, a planet with an ambiguous nature because it is neither hot nor properly cold, is associated with the Green color, the same as the Copper that oxidizes, offering an interesting chromatism, which today makes the product requested on the market and highly appreciated by Architects. In reality it is not very reactive, i.e. its reaction with the surrounding environment is relatively slow, but at the end of this it leads to really surprising, scenographic, brilliant chromatic results, which offer an overall perception marked by Green very distant from the initial one dominated by tones of red.
